What do you see?

The Reverse DNS screen allows you to request Reverse DNS(A query of the Domain Name Service that resolves an IP address to a domain name.) for your Internet Port,   PRN(Private Routed Network), or Enhanced Port services.  In this screen, you enter the configuration information necessary to set up the Reverse DNS.  We will use this information to configure our network to look up your domain name using your IP Address(es)(An IP address is the unique identifier for a particular machine on an IP-based network such as the Internet.  Every computer on the network must have a unique IP address.  IP addresses are made up of 32 bits and written as four sets of numbers between 0 and 255, separated by a period, for example 256.43.7.25.    IP addresses are also referred to as IP numbers and Internet addresses.).

Note:  Fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are mandatory.  Fields marked with a red pound sign (#) cause your browser window to refresh.  The fields appearing on this screen vary depending on your selection from the Do you want Qwest to provide radio buttons.

• Fields and buttons - Primary and Secondary Reverse

  Field	Description
  Type of Product	This drop-down list allows you to select the kind of service for which you want new domain names.  Your options are: Internet Port(Provides customer locations with connectivity to the Internet.) PRN(Private Routed Network - This product enables customers to build a secure, feature rich, wide area network. Customers can seamlessly integrate Internet Access, network-based firewalls, and encryption to their WAN.) Enhanced Port(Provides all of the functionality of both an Internet Port and a PRN Port in a consolidated communications solution.)
  Choose the set of Name Servers applicable to your DNS service	These radio buttons allow you to select the DNS servers you want to use for your new domain name hosting service.
  Do you want Qwest to provide	These radio buttons allow you to select the kind of Reverse DNS you want.   Note:  The fields appearing on this screen vary depending on the radio button you select.  The field descriptions below apply only to the Primary and Secondary Reverse option.
  Primary Server Hostname	This field displays the name assigned to the primary DNS server for your domain name(s).
  Secondary Server Hostname	These fields display the names assigned to the secondary DNS servers for your domain name(s).
  Primary Server Netaddress	This field displays the IP address assigned to the primary DNS server for your domain name(s).
  Secondary Server Netaddress	These fields display the IP addresses assigned to the secondary DNS servers for your domain name(s).
  How many Host Names?	This field allows you to type the number of host name records you want to associate with your new domain name.
  	If you changed the number of host name records, click this button to refresh your browser window.  When you click this button, the system refreshes your browser window, displaying fields that allow you to identify the host names and their associated IP addresses.
  IP Address	These fields allow you to type the IP addresses you want to associate with your domain name(s).
  Host Name	These fields allow you to type the domain name(s) for which you want Reverse DNS.
  Add Additional Comments	This field allows you to type any additional information you want to associate with the new service.  Please provide as much information as possible to facilitate configuration of your Reverse DNS.
  	Click this button to submit your Reverse DNS request.  When you click this button, the system saves your information, then notifies you that your request has been submitted.

   

• Fields and buttons - Delegation of Reverse

  Field	Description
  Type of Product	This drop-down list allows you to select the kind of service for which you want new domain names.  Your options are: Internet Port(Provides customer locations with connectivity to the Internet.) Customers can seamlessly integrate Internet Access, network-based firewalls, and encryption to their WAN.) Enhanced Port(Provides all of the functionality of both an Internet Port and a PRN Port in a consolidated communications solution.)
  Choose the set of Name Servers applicable to your DNS service	These radio buttons allow you to select the DNS servers you want to use for your new domain name hosting service.
  Do you want Qwest to provide	These radio buttons allow you to select the kind of Reverse DNS you want.   Note:  The fields appearing on this screen vary depending on the radio button you select.  The field descriptions below apply only to the Delegation of Reverse option.  These fields presume that you manage your own DNS server and have the ability to manage your own Reverse DNS.
  Customer Primary Name Server	This field allows you to type the host name associated with your primary DNS server.
  IP Address	This field allows you to type the IP address assigned to your primary DNS server.
  Optional Customer Secondary NS	This field allows you to type the host name associated with your secondary DNS server, if applicable.
  IP Address	This field allows you to type the IP address assigned to your secondary DNS server, if applicable.
  Number of address blocks?	This field allows you to enter the total number of IP address blocks associated with your DNS server(s).   Note:  When you change the number in this field and click , the system refreshes your browser window, displaying an IP Address and CIDR field below it for each address block you indicate.
  	If you changed the number of address blocks, click this button to refresh your browser window.  When you click this button, the system refreshes your browser window, displaying fields that allow you to identify the IP addresses and their associated CIDR prefixes.
  IP Address	These fields allow you to type the IP addresses for your Reverse DNS address blocks.
  CIDR	These drop-down lists allow you to select the appropriate CIDR(Classless InterDomain Routing - CIDR allows groups of addresses to be assigned within a single network without having to identify each address. The number of bits used for the network portion determines how many addresses are available for hosts. The available addresses are identified by a CIDR prefix and that equates to the subnet mask.) prefixes to indicate how many addresses are available within each IP address block.
  Add Additional Comments	This field allows you to type any additional information you want to associate with the new service.  Please provide as much information as possible to facilitate configuration of your Reverse DNS.

This field allows you to enter the total number of IP address blocks associated with your DNS server(s).   Note:  When you change the number in this field and click , the system refreshes your browser window, displaying an IP Address and CIDR field below it for each address block you indicate.
  	If you changed the number of address blocks, click this button to refresh your browser window.  When you click this button, the system refreshes your browser window, displaying fields that allow you to identify the IP addresses and their associated CIDR prefixes.
  IP Address	These fields allow you to type the IP addresses for your Reverse DNS address blocks.
