What do you see?

The Managed Firewall Usage Report page gives you detailed statistical information about the traffic passing through the selected firewall.  This page is divided into multiple sections based on the type of information provided.

• Fields and buttons - General

  Field	Description
  Firewall Address	This field displays the IP address(An IP, or Internet Protocol, address is the unique identifier for a particular element on an IP-based network such as the Internet.  Every component on the network must have a unique IP address.  IP addresses are made up of 32 bits and written as four sets of numbers between 0 and 255, separated by a period - for example 256.43.7.25.  IP addresses are also referred to as IP numbers and Internet addresses.) associated with the managed firewall for which the report was generated.
  Log Date	This field displays the date for which the report displays usage statistics.
  Log File Size	This field displays the size of the log file from which the report's statistics were pulled.
  Total Number of Log Entries	This field displays the total number of entries in the log file from which the report's statistics were pulled.

   

• Fields and buttons - Web Hits Per Hour Section

  Field	Description
  0:00...23:00	These fields display the total number of web hits passing through the firewall in each one-hour period on the date for which the report was generated.

   

• Fields and buttons - Breakdown by Action Section

  Field	Description
  Action	This column identifies each type of action taken through the firewall on the date for which the report was generated.
  Sessions	This column displays the total number of sessions in which each listed action was taken.
  %Total	This column identifies the percentage of the total number of actions each listed action represents.  For example, if an action of encrypt has a percentage value of 70%, it means that 70% of all actions taken through the firewall on the date in question consisted of encrypting data.

   

• Fields and buttons - Breakdown by Protocol Section

  Field	Description
  Protocol	This column identifies the protocols used for traffic through the firewall on the date for which the report was generated.
  Sessions	This column displays the total number of sessions that used each listed protocol on the date for which the report was generated.
  %Total	This column displays the percentage of the total number of sessions that used each listed protocol.  For example, if the tcp protocol has 70% in this column, it means that 70% of the traffic passing through the firwall on the date in question used tcp.

   

• Fields and buttons - Breakdown by Session Section

  Field	Description
  (Service or Port or ICMP Type).Protocol	This column displays the source and protocol used for each listed item.
  Blocked	This column displays the total number of sessions that the firewall blocked on the date for which the report was generated.
  Allowed	This column displays the total number of sessions that the firewall did not block on the date for which the report was generated.
  Combined	This column displays the total number of sessions attempted on the date for which the report was generated.
  %Total	This column identifies the percentage of total sessions each listed item represents.

   

• Fields and buttons - Most Active Surfers Section

  Field	Description
  Source	This column displays each IP address(An IP, or Internet Protocol, address is the unique identifier for a particular element on an IP-based network such as the Internet.  Every component on the network must have a unique IP address.  IP addresses are made up of 32 bits and written as four sets of numbers between 0 and 255, separated by a period - for example 256.43.7.25.  IP addresses are also referred to as IP numbers and Internet addresses.) that attempted to communicate through the firewall on the date for which the report was generated.
  Hits	This column displays the total number of hits each listed address attempted on the date for which the report was generated.
  %Total	This column identifies the percentage of total traffic each listed address represents.

   

• Fields and buttons - Most Popular Web Sites Section

  Field	Description
  Site	This column displays the IP address(An IP, or Internet Protocol, address is the unique identifier for a particular element on an IP-based network such as the Internet.  Every component on the network must have a unique IP address.  IP addresses are made up of 32 bits and written as four sets of numbers between 0 and 255, separated by a period - for example 256.43.7.25.  IP addresses are also referred to as IP numbers and Internet addresses.) for each web site a user or service element inside the firewall attempted to contact over the date for which the report was generated.
  Hits	This column displays the total number of times each listed web site was reached on the date for which the report was generated.
  %Total	This column identifies the percentage of total traffic through the firewall each listed web site represents.

   

• Fields and buttons - FTP Sites Hit Section

  Field	Description
  FTP Site	This column displays the IP address(An IP, or Internet Protocol, address is the unique identifier for a particular element on an IP-based network such as the Internet.  Every component on the network must have a unique IP address.  IP addresses are made up of 32 bits and written as four sets of numbers between 0 and 255, separated by a period - for example 256.43.7.25.  IP addresses are also referred to as IP numbers and Internet addresses.) associated with each FTP site contacted from inside the firewall on the date for which the report was generated.
  Sessions	This column displays the total number of FTP(File Transfer Protocol - A communications protocol governing the transfer of files from one computer to another over a network.) sessions each listed IP address attempted on the date for which the report was generated.
  %Total	This column identifies the percentage of all FTP hits each listed site received.

   

• Fields and buttons - FTP by Source Section

  Field	Description
  Source	This column displays the IP address(An IP, or Internet Protocol, address is the unique identifier for a particular element on an IP-based network such as the Internet.  Every component on the network must have a unique IP address.  IP addresses are made up of 32 bits and written as four sets of numbers between 0 and 255, separated by a period - for example 256.43.7.25.  IP addresses are also referred to as IP numbers and Internet addresses.) associated with each FTP(File Transfer Protocol - A communications protocol governing the transfer of files from one computer to another over a network.) site that passed through the firewall from the outside on the date for which the report was generated.
  Sessions	This column displays the total number of times each listed FTP site reached through the firewall on the date for which the report was generated.
  %Total	This column identifies the percentage of total outside FTP traffic each listed item represents.

  Field	Description
  Destination	This column displays the IP address(An IP, or Internet Protocol, address is the unique identifier for a particular element on an IP-based network such as the Internet.  Every component on the network must have a unique IP address.  IP addresses are made up of 32 bits and written as four sets of numbers between 0 and 255, separated by a period - for example 256.43.7.25.  IP addresses are also referred to as IP numbers and Internet addresses.) associated with each FTP(File Transfer Protocol - A communications protocol governing the transfer of files from one computer to another over a network.) site contacted from within the firewall on the date for which the report was generated.
  Source	This column displays the IP address(An IP, or Internet Protocol, address is the unique identifier for a particular element on an IP-based network such as the Internet.  Every component on the network must have a unique IP address.  IP addresses are made up of 32 bits and written as four sets of numbers between 0 and 255, separated by a period - for example 256.43.7.25.  IP addresses are also referred to as IP numbers and Internet addresses.) associated with the element inside the firewall that contacted each listed destination on the date for which the report was generated.
  Sessions	This column displays the total number of times each listed source/destination communicated.
  %Total	This column identifies the percentage of all FTP traffic each listed item represents.

   

• Fields and buttons - Mail by Rcpt Destination Section

  Field	Description
  Recipient	This column displays the IP address(An IP, or Internet Protocol, address is the unique identifier for a particular element on an IP-based network such as the Internet.  Every component on the network must have a unique IP address.  IP addresses are made up of 32 bits and written as four sets of numbers between 0 and 255, separated by a period - for example 256.43.7.25.  IP addresses are also referred to as IP numbers and Internet addresses.) associated with each element that received email traffic from within the firewall on the date for which the report was generated.
  Messages	This column displays the total number of email messages each listed address received on the date for which the report was generated.
  %Total	This column identifies the percentage of total incoming email traffic each listed item represents.

   

• Fields and buttons - Mail by Source Section

  Field	Description
  Sender	This column displays the IP address(An IP, or Internet Protocol, address is the unique identifier for a particular element on an IP-based network such as the Internet.  Every component on the network must have a unique IP address.  IP addresses are made up of 32 bits and written as four sets of numbers between 0 and 255, separated by a period - for example 256.43.7.25.  IP addresses are also referred to as IP numbers and Internet addresses.) associated with each element that sent email traffic from inside the firewall on the date for which the report was generated.
  Messages	This column displays the total number of email messages each listed address sent on the date for which the report was generated.
  %Total	This column identifies the percentage of total outgoing email traffic each listed address represents.

   

• Fields and buttons - Mail by Session Section

  Field	Description
  To	This column displays the IP address(An IP, or Internet Protocol, address is the unique identifier for a particular element on an IP-based network such as the Internet.  Every component on the network must have a unique IP address.  IP addresses are made up of 32 bits and written as four sets of numbers between 0 and 255, separated by a period - for example 256.43.7.25.  IP addresses are also referred to as IP numbers and Internet addresses.) associated with each element that received traffic from within the firewall on the date for which the report was generated.
  From	This column displays the IP address associated with each element from which email traffic originated on the date for which the report was generated.
  Messages	This column displays the total number of email messages that went from the From IP address to the To IP address across the firewall on the date for which the report was generated.
  %Total	This column indicates the percentage of total mail traffic each item represents for the date for which the report was generated.
