What do you see?
The Modify VC page allows you to rename a selected VC(Virtual Circuit). This page displays the physical location at which the End A and End B ports reside, as well as the speed at which each end transmits data.

End A Port Information
Field
Description
Port Name
The name currently assigned to the port.
ID
The unique alphanumeric identifier assigned to the port by your network provider. This value is used to identify the network on your provider's larger network. You cannot change this value.
Address
The complete address of the facility in which the port resides.
Port Speed
The speed at which the port transmits data frames, in Kilobits per second.
Port Type
The kind of data supported by the selected port. Valid port types are Frame or ATM.
DLCI
The Data Link Control Identifier(This value offers an additional level of identification to direct a frame of information at End A or End B ports to move down either one PVC or another.) for Frame ports, or the VPI(Virtual Path Identifier) for ATM ports. VCI(Virtual Circuit Identifier) is indicated for the circuit at the appropriate endpoint.
End B Port Information

Description
Port Name
The name currently assigned to the port.
ID
The unique alphanumeric identifier assigned to the port by your network provider. This value is used to identify the network on your provider's larger network. You cannot change this value.
Address

VC Attributes
Field
Description
VC Name
The current identifier assigned to the circuit. A network-assigned name appears here by default. If the circuit has been renamed, the assigned name appears here.
You can assign a new name to the circuit by typing the new name in this field.
Carrier ID
The unique alphanumeric identifier assigned to the circuit by the network provider. This value is used to identify the VC on the provider's larger network. You cannot change this value.
A CIR
The Committed Information Rate at End A of the circuit.
A BIR
This field displays the speed at which Burst Information Rate data is transmitted through each listed circuit in the A to B or "forward" direction. Speed is indicated in kilobits per second.
Note: For Frame Relay and Interworking circuits, the indicated BIR(Burst Information Rate) is in addition to the CIR(Committed Information Rate). For ATM circuits, BIR includes the CIR.
B CIR
The Committed Information Rate at End B of the circuit.
B BIR
This field displays the speed at which Burst Information Rate data is transmitted through each listed circuit in the B to A or "reverse" direction. Speed is indicated in kilobits per second.
Note: For Frame Relay and Interworking circuits, the indicated BIR(Burst Information Rate) is in addition to the CIR(Committed Information Rate). For ATM circuits, BIR includes the CIR.
QoS
This field displays the identifier for the QoS(Quality of Service - A guarantee that end-to-end latency will not exceed a specified throughput level.) level guaranteed for the circuit.
Click this button to save any changes you have made. When you click this button, the system attempts to make your changes on the network, then takes you to the Virtual Circuits page. A message at the top of the page indicates the success or failure of your action.
