Defining Static Routes

 


Procedure

Follow the steps below to enter any static routes that exist between the server behind the firewall and another network host:

Action

From the Managed Firewall PRN screen, click the ID of the Open firewall for which you want to define network configuration.

 

Result:  The system takes you to the Modify Managed Firewall Details screen.

From the Functions section on the left-hand side of the screen, click Initial Setup.

 

Result:  The system takes you to the Initial Setup screen.

From the Form Name list at the bottom of the screen, click Static Routes.

 

Result:  The system takes you to the Static Routes screen.

In the Destination field, type the IP address of the host to which the route you are creating leads.

In the Netmask field, type the destination host's subnet mask.

In the Gateway field, type the IP address of the point of entry and exit for traffic going into the route's destination host.

Click btn_newaddarrows.gif.

 

Result:  The system adds the route you just defined to the Selected Routes box.

Repeat Steps 4 through 7 for all the routes you want to create.

 

Note:  You can remove routes from the Routes box by highlighting the offending route and clicking btn_newremove.gif.

Click btn_newsubmit.gif.

 

Result:  The system attempts to save the static route information and associate it with the firewall before returning you to the Initial Setup screen.  The Static Routes option at the bottom of the screen should now have a status of Completed.
