Requesting BGP Routing

 


Procedure

Follow the steps below to request new BGP routing:

 

Step

Action

From the Routing menu under the IP Management tab, click New Routing.

 

Result:  The Customer Information screen appears.

From the New or Existing Service? radio buttons, select whether you want BGP routing for a new service or an existing service.

 

Result:  The system refreshes your browser window, displaying fields appropriate for your selection.

Verify that the information in the First Name, Last Name, Phone, and Customer Technical Contact E-mail Address fields is correct.  Update the fields as necessary.

Are you configuring BGP routing for a new service or an existing service?

If you want BGP routing for...

Then...

An existing service

In the Circuit ID field, type the unique identifier of the circuit for which you want to configure BGP routing.

A new service

  1. In the Sales Engineer E-mail Address field, type the email address at which you reach your Sales Engineer.

  2. In the Sales Representative E-mail Address field, type the email address at which you reach your Sales Rep.

  3. In the CORE Sales Order Number field, type the CORE Sales Order identifier you received from Qwest when you ordered your service.

Click btn_newnext.gif.

 

Result:  The New Routing screen appears.

From the Type of Product drop-down list, choose the service to which you want to add BGP routing.

From the Type of Routing radio buttons, select BGP.

 

Result:  The system refreshes your browser window, displaying the fields necessary to configure your BGP routing.

From the Type of eBGP radio buttons, select whether you want Regular or Multihop BGP routing.

 

Result:  The system refreshes your browser window, displaying the fields necessary to configure the kind of routing you selected.

In the Serial Address field, type the IP address of the Qwest serial host that handles the routing.

-OR-

In the Circuit ID, type the unique identifier of the circuit for which you want to configure BGP routing.

From the Are you multi-homed with another provider? radio buttons, indicate whether or not you also use another provider.

 

Result:  The system refreshes your browser window, displaying the fields appropriate to your selection.

Depending on your selection in Step 10, take one of the following courses of action:

If you selected...

Then...

No

If you need private AS, select the Private AS check box.

 

Result:  If you select this checkbox, the Yes option for the Are you multi-homed with another provider? radio buttons becomes disabled.

Yes

  1. In the Number of connection types needed field, type the total number of connections you need Qwest to provide, then click btn_update.gif.

    Result:
     The system refreshes your browser window, displaying the appropriate number of Connection Type and ISP fields.

  2. In the Connection Type field(s), identify the kind(s) of connection(s) you will require with your other providers.

  3. In the ISP field(s), type the name(s) of the service provider(s) with which you need to connect.

From the What type of Router will you be using on this connection? drop-down list, select your router's manufacturer.

 

Result:  The system refreshes your browser window.  If you selected Other, a field appears, allowing you to type the name of your router's manufacturer.

From the How much memory does this Router have? drop-down list, select the appropriate value.

From the Do you have any BGP customers? radio buttons, indicate whether or not any of your customers use BGP routing on your circuit(s).

 

Result:  The system refreshes your browser window.  If you selected Yes, fields will appear that allow you to provide the necessary information for your customers.

Depending on your selection in Step 14, take one of the following courses of action:

No

Proceed directly to the next Step.

Yes

  1. In the Number of address blocks needed field, type the total number of IP addresses you need, then click btn_update.gif.

    Result:
     The system refreshes your browser window, displaying the appropriate number of IP Address Block and CIDR Prefix Length fields.

  2. In the IP Address Block field(s), type the IP address(es) of the host(s) for which you need BGP routing.

  3. From the CIDR Prefix drop-down list(s), select the appropriate value(s) to indicate the number of addresses that are available within each IP address block.

From the Are you registered with RADB? radio buttons, indicate whether or not you are registered with RADB.

 

Result:  The system refreshes your browser window.  If you selected Yes, the AS Macro Name field appears.

Depending on your selection in Step 16, take one of the following actions:

If you selected...

Then...

No

Proceed directly to the next Step.

Yes

In the AS Macro Name field, type the unique identifier for your AS macro.

From the Bulk IP for Routing? radio buttons, indicate whether or not you need bulk IP for routing.

 

Result:  The system refreshes your browser window.  If you selected Yes, the Enter Bulk IP's box appears.

Depending on your selection in Step 18, take one of the following actions:

If you selected...

Then...

No

Proceed directly to the next Step.

Yes

In the Enter Bulk IP's box, type the IP addresses you need to provide.

In the Add Additional Comments box, type any more information that will help us configure your BGP routing.

Click btn_newsubmit.gif.

 

Result:  The system attempts to save your data, then refreshes your browser window.  A message appears, indicating the success or failure of your submission.
